The Fiber Arts Studio Gallery at the Lincoln City Cultural Center showcases Featured Artists’ Gallery shows and a working fiber studio with demonstrations and equipment to try, and, occasionally items to purchase and treasure. The studio incorporates fiber Arts, handwoven clothing, weaving and spinning to see and try, knitting, crochet, basketry, quilting, rug hooking, and surface design.
During the Studio Tour, featured artist, Karen Gelbard, The Oregon Weaver, will be working from LCCC’s Fiber Arts Studio Gallery and have her work on display.
Karen Gelbard, “The Oregon Weaver” specializes in designing and producing handwoven jackets, coats and scarves. In her studio, on the Oregon Coast, she draws inspiration from her surroundings and adds other textile techniques to her woven cloth to tell an Oregon Story.
During the Studio Tour James Carthel, Basket weaver, will be demonstrating from LCCC’s Fiber Arts Studio Gallery on all three days of the tour and will have his work on display.
James Carthel is retired from his career as a choir director and school administrator in Texas. As a resident of Rose Villa Senior Living Center in Portland OR. and a member of the Columbia Basin Basketry Guild he plies his hobby of basket Weaving, gathering and processing natural plant fibers and recycled plastic film.
