Project Description

Lyle & Arlene Gowing manage the textile center at the Lincoln City Cultural Center. Lyle is a weaver and makes beautiful rugs from Pendleton wool selvages. Arlene is seen with her spinning wheel all around the area. They both give lessons in their art to benefit the Cultural Center.

We have been crafting and creating for about 15 years. Most of the time, we have been attending small to medium sized Arts and Craft Shows in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Recently, however, we have branched out to shows in such places as Lake Havasu City and Wickenburg, Arizona; Wenatchee, Des Moines, Yacolt, Amboy, Puyallup and Ocean Shores in Washington State.

Our line of products include (but, are not limited to) Homespun Exotic Yarns (such as Alpaca and Merino Sheep Wool), Home-woven wool rugs (made of selvages from Pendleton Woolen Mills), Hand Crocheted Pet Beds (also from Pendleton wool).

The Pet Beds we create have become quite a conversation piece. Pet Beds are unique in size and shape. These Pet Beds look like an igloo and others have tried unsuccessfully to copy them. We are very proud of Arlene’s creation.

As an added bonus, we provide demonstrations of both spinning and weaving at various shows (whenever possible). Soon, we will be offering lessons in weaving and spinning at our home.

While we are small in regard to a manufacturing enterprise, we are large in regard to heart and eager to present our line to the public whenever possible.
